Transport Teacher Wanted at Region Östergötland

Region Östergötland operates three schools, which are gathered under the Regional Development Committee.

Vreta Education Center is located just outside Linköping, Himmelstalund Education Center is situated in Norrköping, and Lunnevads Folk High School is located between Vikingstad and Mantorp. At Vreta Education Center, the Agricultural Program offers specializations in farming, horse management, and forestry, as well as the Vehicle and Transport Program's transport specialization and the vocational driver training for the national transport direction. National sports education (NIU) is offered in equestrian sports (dressage or jumping). Adult vocational training and higher vocational education are available in agriculture, horse management, and forestry. The adapted upper secondary school offers the national program in Forest, Land, and Animals.

Job Description

We are looking for a transport teacher who, in collaboration with the transport education staff, can plan and conduct theoretical instruction in YKB theory and C theory, as well as practical instruction in the vocational courses of the transport education. You should also be able to train students in practical driving with vehicles on the road for driving licenses B-C CE. Current courses are the character courses for the transport specialization. You will be part of the transport education team and actively participate in the team's development work, so you should be able to work well with others, listen, and communicate. You should also participate in workplace meetings, staff meetings, and further education. You will actively work for the school's values and contribute to an interdisciplinary approach through collaboration with the school's other staff.

Work Group

You will belong to the Transport Unit, which currently has 8 teachers, 8 instructors, two mentors, and two student assistants, as well as a unit manager.

About You

We are looking for someone with at least five years of professional experience driving heavy vehicles and a CE driving license who wants to share their knowledge. You should have experience in theoretical instruction in YKB and C theory and preferably have worked with youth, even if it is on a voluntary basis during your free time. Several years of experience in the transport industry and preferably broad experience in various professional areas of transport is desired. It is preferable that you are a qualified/certified teacher in transport courses and trained as a Driving Examiner in the Vehicle and Transport Program or have equivalent knowledge. If you are not trained, you should have the willingness to train as a certified transport teacher and later also be able to take the driving examiner training within the school's framework.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability to perform the above-described tasks. This means that you enjoy meeting young people at different levels and can lead, engage, and motivate them to want to develop within your subject area. You should have the ability to lead groups and individuals and the ability to convey knowledge. You enjoy working with young people, which means you are outgoing and socially active, like to create contacts, and maintain relationships. You should be able to communicate clearly, ensure that messages are conveyed, and that expectations are clear for all parties involved. It is also important to be able to plan, organize, and prioritize work effectively and set and adhere to timelines. To be able to help all students, it is also important that you are calm, stable, and controlled in stressful situations. You should be able to make quick decisions in various situations in your work with students, take initiatives, and achieve good results. You should be able to be creative and come up with new ideas to improve the quality of education. The position in the transport education requires that you can collaborate well with others, listen, understand, and set a good example.
